Open Positions:

The Cornelius Library Foundation is recruiting new board directors and we would be delighted if you would consider joining us! This is a great opportunity to get engaged, be part of a dedicated team, and give back to your community. New ideas, energy and enthusiasm are welcome.

The mission of the Cornelius Library Foundation is simple. We fundraise and advocate for the library, expand community outreach and partnerships, support new programs, and foster digital equity. As a Director with the Cornelius Library Foundation, you will be a champion of one of the most important educational and cultural resources in the Cornelius community.

Public funding for the library supports its core services, but the Foundation raises additional funds for important, complementary initiatives. Some of the projects that the Foundation has sponsored include funding WiFi hotspots that are loaned to community members and buying a colorful graphic vehicle wrap for the new bookmobile. In the fall of 2024 we opened the Drake Learning Center, a community makerspace dedicated to enhancing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning and creativity among adults and youth.

In 2019, the library moved into a beautiful new building to create a vital community gathering place. Our innovative library started the first laptop borrowing program in Oregon almost ten years ago and currently boasts Oregon’s 5th largest collection of Spanish language materials. All library services and resources are free and include programs such as bilingual storytimes, teen STEM, technology training and homework help.

As a Board Director, you would contribute time and energy to carry out duties which include regular attendance at monthly meetings, planning appeals and activities to secure adequate funding and provide oversight of the Foundation budget.

If you are interested in learning more and applying to become a Foundation Director, please contact the Cornelius Library Director at 503-992-5381 or Maria.Aguilar@corneliusor.gov.

Sincerely,

Sam Alban, President, Cornelius Library Foundation
